With better lighting in the test bays electrical students will have a better training environment
Our team recently went back to college. Unlike their days as apprentices, they weren’t spending time in the test bays this time. Instead, they were busy installing new lighting.

The upgraded test bay area was completed in time for the students' return this term. It will provide an even better learning environment for them. We wish everyone all the best for their studies.

Electrical training

repair electrical systems and equipment. It takes a while to learn all you need to know. Most importantly, you need to thoroughly understand the Wiring Regulations. These set out the national standards for design, installation and maintenance of electric wiring in buildings.

There are several national qualifications for safe and effective work with electrical systems, including apprenticeships. Alongside work-based training you’re assessed on your practical skills and knowledge.

Many colleges and training organisations offer courses which can last up to three and a half years. You then need to pass the practical Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) Assessment.

This covers:
risk assessments
safe isolation
planning and preparing to install wiring systems
inspection, testing and certification
fault diagnosis.

Maintaining standards

Electricians must also maintain their skills through continuing professional development (CPD). This might involve more training and evidence you’re staying up to date with changes in regulations and technology.

For over 20 years MSE has been a proud member of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC). The NICEIC oversees standards and regulations that maintain the quality of electrical work for homeowners, businesses, public bodies and professionals. It also specifies training and encourages everyone in the electrical sector to stay up to date.

To maintain registration our work is reviewed annually by NICEIC inspectors. They check our work onsite, insurance, health and safety practices, operations, tools and plant. They also visit our industrial, commercial and domestic clients to check our work.

Please get in touch if you’re looking for qualified and experienced electricians for your project.
